Garlic Tasting

Garlic Tasting

First-time garlic taste testers are often astonished by the variety of flavours, sweetness and heat levels found in Ontario garlic. A very basic taste test is to try fresh, raw garlic on bread or plain crackers.

For each type of garlic, use the same prep method, whether it’s chopped, pressed or minced. To taste for sweetness, roast whole bulbs or individual cloves, sealed in aluminum foil until well caramelized (should be a golden brown colour, which is the sugars in the garlic caramelizing). Cook for thirty to forty-five minutes at 175 degrees C (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Spread on bread or plain cracker
