Toronto Garlic Festival Paid Internship Position (summer 2019)

About Us

The 9th Annual Toronto Garlic Festival will take place on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at historic Artscape Wychwood Barns.The Toronto Garlic Festival is the annual cultural celebration of Ontario’s garlic harvest, attracting 4,000 visitors, where Ontario farmers sell garlic and local chefs cook with garlic. The festival works with farmers, chefs, chocolatiers, small-scale food producers, craft breweries and wineries to develop and promote Ontario garlic-themed products through the curated annual Festival. The festival encourages small-scale farmers and food producer to attend as vendors. Founded in 2011 all revenue is applied to operating costs including venue rental, public relations and marketing.

The Opportunity

To help prepare for the one day event we are seeking a motivated, organized individual.  This is a great opportunity for interested students to bolster their event planning and management experience, learn about unique & innovative cultural programming, and develop skills that would be an asset as they continue their formal education. Tasks include and are not limited to the following.

  • Maintains current information in company’s database for business contacts, consumer data, performers, artists, sponsors and vendor lists.
  • Maintains current information on company’s website for event details, speakers, musicians, farmers, chefs, sponsors and vendor lists.
  • Maintains current information on World Wide Web (ie. creating and updating event listings as required)
  • Identifies sale prospects and presents sponsorship opportunities to potential customers.
  • Provides research support and completes tasks required for event execution.
  • Manages collateral production for printed materials, brochures, signage and other marketing pieces.
  • Assists with event marketing duties such as writing press releases, radio and television spot copy, VIP invitations, etc.
  • Gathers post-event wrap up reports, evaluations and client summaries.

Start Date: August 19, 2019 or sooner. Flexible hours, work from home.

End Date: Sept 2, 2019 (flexible)

Pay: $15.00/hour plus a completion bonus.

Eligibility:

  • Can work remote (from home or other), flexible hours.
  • Eligible candidates must be currently enrolled in a secondary, or post-secondary institution or within six months of graduation and have reached the age of 15 and not yet reached the age of 25 upon commencement of employment or up to 29 years of age for persons with a disability.
  • Students must be residents of Ontario during the period of employment.
  • Students must be eligible to work in Canada and have a Social Insurance Number (SIN).
  • Students should be living in Ontario at the time they start work.
  • Must have own computer with internet access and own phone with call plan to receive and make calls within Ontario
